Thermal growing season length

Within a period of 12 months, the thermal growing season length is defined as the number of days between:

first occurrence of at least 6 consecutive days with a mean temperature > 5 °C
first occurrence of at least 6 consecutive days with a mean temperature < 5 °C within the last 6 months
